Ali Schneider, Co-Founder & Immigration Attorney/Cofundador y Abogada de Inmigración
Ali Schneider has been serving immigrant communities through legal services and trauma-informed care since 2008. After passing the Oregon Bar in 2010, she worked with Catholic Charities Oregon - Immigration Legal Services (ILS) as an attorney and legal volunteer coordinator. In 2015, she co-founded Meadowlark Immigration PC with Michael Cowgill. Her expertise is in working with survivors of trauma, especially domestic violence and sexual assault.
Ms. Schneider has developed and given trainings to attorneys, law students and advocates on Immigration Law and Trauma Informed Care. Ms. Schneider is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and she serves as the law student liaison as well as co-coordinator of the American Immigration Council 5th grade writing contest. She previously served as the New Member Division liaison for AILA for 2 terms, from 2012-2014. In 2012 she completed a 40 hour domestic violence training through the YWCA and Raphael House. She received an AILA pro bono attorney award in 2015 for her work at the Artesia Detention Facility, where she represented women and children from Central America fleeing persecution. She graduated from New York Law School in 2010, and speaks Spanish fluently.
Ali Schneider ha servido la comunidad de inmigrantes por medio de servicios legales y servicios informados de ayudar a victimes de trauma desde 2008. Desde que paso la barra de Oregón en 2010, ella trabajo con Caridades Católicas de Oregón – Servicios Legales de Inmigración (ILS) como una abogada y coordinador de voluntarias legales. En ILS ella servio a clientes de bajos ingresos en casos humanitarios y de familia. Su pericia esta en trabajar con sobrevivientes de trauma, especialmente victimas de violencia domestica y asalto sexual.
Sra. Schneider ha desarrollado y dado entrenamientos a abogados, estudiantes de ley y defensores en la ley de inmigración y servicios informados para ayudar a victimas de trauma. Sra. Schneider es una miembro del Asociación de Abogados de Inmigración de America (AILA), y servio como coordinador del División de Nuevos Miembros para AILA por dos plazos, de 2012-2014. En 2012 ella completo un entrenamiento de 40 horas sobre violencia domestica por medio del YWCA y Raphael House. Sra. Schneider recibió o un premio de AILA en 2015 por sus servicios gratis y por su trabajo en la facilidad de detención de inmigración en Artesia, en donde represento a mujeres y niños de centro America que estaban escapando persecución. Sra. Schneider gradúo de New York Law School en 2010, y habla español con fluidez.
Michael J. Cowgill, Co-Founder/Cofundador
Michael Cowgill is a co-founder of Meadowlark Immigration PC. He is passionate about removal defense and humanitarian aid and is a native Spanish speaker. He began serving immigrant communities through his work as a legal assistant in 2012. Michael graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School in May 2015. During his time at Meadowlark, Michael specialized in removal defense and asylum, and he worked with the Oregon Congress on U visa certification legislation to support survivors of crimes. Michael passed the Florida State Bar in 2018 and relocated to Florida. Though he has moved across the country, his contributions to help found this firm and advocating for immigrant communities remain present in our day to day work.
Michael Cowgill es cofundador de Meadowlark Immigration PC. Michael se apasiona por la defensa contra deportación y apoyo humanitario y es hablante nativo del español. El empezó a servir a la comunidad de inmigrantes por medio de su trabajo como asistente legal en 2012. Michael se graduó de la Escuela de Leyes de Lewis & Clark en Mayo 2015. Durante su tiempo en Meadowlark, Michael se especializaba en defensa contra deportación y asilo, y trabajó con el Congreso de Oregón sobre legislación de la certificación de la Visa U para apoyar a sobrevivientes de crímenes. Michael aprobó la Barra de Florida en 2018 y se mudo a Florida. Aunque ahora se encuentra en el otro lado del país, sus contribuciones para fundar este despacho y abogando para la comunidad inmigrante quedan presentes en nuestro trabajo cotidiano.
